9/23/06 Coach Sheader placed 3rd, ahead of the legendary Pablo ‘Charlie’ Vigil at the Adams State College Alumni Cross Country race this past Saturday in the high air of Alamosa, Colorado. Only two runners, both 20 something world class competitors completed the classic loop course first.

This is the quality that builds character like few other qualities, and you will find once you reach the target what really matters is the effect it had on you along the way.
I teach all my athletes this steadfastness; for talent, momentary effort, and ease will bring one very little. It is a discipline, a liberation I practice myself. I am not always successful yet that is the point, to arise and continue.
In my mind perseverance is a step beyond endurance…Though it requires it. Perseverance is the cutivated quality which comes into play when endurance is challenged and the lower self, the ego self simply wants to quit. Perseverance is ultimately a characteristic of the Higher Self.
