WEKAF World Championship

Two years ago Kerry and I and Jeff Stocker traveled to Cebu in the Philippines to compete in the WEKAF (World Eskrima-Kali-Arnis Federation) World Championships. This time round they were held at the Dolphin Resort, Disney World, Orlando Florida…Surely a far more foreign place to us than clear on the other side of the globe.

This time round Kerry fought in 16-18 year old heavyweight division. A wide open division of essentially anyone over 150 (Kerry is between 155-160 pounds) and he just turned 16. None the less, Kerry took second the final match championship in a close match. That is neither here nor there as he showed all the composure and class and fierceness one could hope to ask of a young warrior. In addition he made two more podiums in the world invitational in styles he has not even practiced much.

I also want to give a bow to Ben Fox, also from High Desert Martial Arts who fought magnificently and attained second in a 14-15 age division.
