I would first like to extend a HUGE bow of chi and congratulations to Natalie Hughes for a second place finish in the mile (and first American) at the women’s NCAA Div. 1 Indoor Track and Field Championships. It has been long time coming Nat and only the beginning of more to come. Outdoor Nationals here we come… and Beijing down the road.

I also want to bow to three other fine female athletes I continue to have the joy to work with directly or enjoy their performances from here in the high sacred canyon desert. Each of these three have heart and maturity beyond what one might normally encounter in young women their age. In addition all three are looking to wear the Green and Gold next year at Adams State College… in my mind the finest distance running school in the country bar none.
Let me introduce you to Amanda Savoie (Grand Junction, Colorado) Elena Miller (La Jara, Colorado) and Ashley Quintana ( Pecos, New Mexico)
Amanda was recently featured as a KJCT Athlete of the Week for her outstanding tenacity and heart in the face of much adversity. She should also get credit for more than once keeping Kerry’s feet on the earth!

To all four of these young women, the lives of value and courage they lead, I bow.
